Put in to bat first, Thane Marathas produced a late charge to put on the board a challenging total of 173 runs for 9 wickets from their 20 overs. The middle-order batting duo of skipper Ronak Shinde 37 runs (27-balls, 5×6) and left-hander Nehal Katakdhond 30 runs (23-balls, 2×4,2×6) stitched together a face-saving 71-run partnership for the sixth wicket which lifted the Marathas’ innings. Veera Sigamani 23 runs and Siddhant Adatrao 21 runs added valuable runs to boost the total. Warriors’ medium pacer Yashraj P. 4 for 20, and left-arm spinner Yash Chauhan 2 for 29 claimed the wickets.

In reply, Shivaji Park Warriors, who were on a roll having won all their first seven league matches convincingly, before losing to Mumbai Police City Riders in the concluding league match on Tuesday, succumbed to their second defeat in as many days. Chasing an attainable target, they suffered a middle order collapse and could only manage to score 167 for 7 wickets from their quota of 20 overs. Left-handed bat Jayesh Pokhre led Warriors fight with a blistering 26-ball knock of 60 runs which contained five boundaries and four well-struck sixes. But after his dismissal, the other batters were unable to force the pace and take their team past the finish line. In a match of the 48th All India Goswami Ganesh Dutt Cricket Tournament (Regd.) between golden eagle cricket club vs friends cricket club, Golden Eagle C opted to ball first. Kunwar Bidhuri scored splendid ton 143 to take his side score 314/8 in 40 overs limited overs game, with him Sumit Mathur scored 83 gritty knock. From Golden Eagle CC Ronak took 6 wickets and gave away 56 runs only.

In reply Golden Eagle cc started poorly and lost early top 3 wickets cheaply. Ekansh Dobhal came in and start rotating strike and in between tonking huge sixes, he batted superbly and scored a magnificent ton 163. With him Vaibhav Sharma scored 55 runs which turned out to be handy in the chase as they lost 9 wickets and won the game by just 1 wicket left & in 39th over.

Mumbai, May 16: Young Zoroastrian Azad Maidan Centre defeated Kalyan Centre on the basis of the first innings lead on the second day of their quarter-final match of the 26th Late Ajit Naik Memorial Under-14 selection trials cricket tournament 2023, organised by WSC under the aegis of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the Worli SC ground on Tuesday.

Batting first Young Zoroastrian first innings finished at 151 all out in 61.3 overs at the end of the first day. Kalyan Centre batsmen also struggled to deal with the rival bowling attack as was dismissed for 143 runs in 42.4 overs. Harsh Nadkar, who had claimed 7 wickets for 39 runs, was Kalyan Centre’s best batsman and scored 42 runs but his team fell short and conceded a crucial 8 run lead to Young Zoroastrian, which ensured they advanced to the semi-finals. Zoroastrian’s bowler Shon Koregaonkar 5 for 35 was responsible for the team grabbing the lead.

In the second innings, Young Zoroastrian reached 101 for 4, in 28 overs. Once again the top-scorer was Satyanarayan Ghuge who made 37 runs and the match ended in a draw.
