Saturday 17 Oct 2021 – T20 played at Sonale Cricket Ground, Bhiwandi.
Tournament Name: Enthusiasts Sports Premiere League Edition IV -2020-21
Hosted by: Enthusiasts Sports and Welfare Association
Participating teams: 4
Finals played between: ESWA-SRs Veterans Vs Cosmos 11
A well fought half century by Niranjan Paradkar on a challenging surface helped ESWA -SRs veterans to bag the 4th Edition of “Enthusiasts Sports Premiere League”. ESWA-SRs Veterans were undefeated in the tournament and were facing Cosmos 11 in the finals. Both teams looked at par during start of the tournament with Veterans favorite to win the tournament featuring experience players like Gaurav Bengre, Vaibhav Mali and Rahul Sawant in the team.
Winning the toss ESWA Veterans elected to bat on a slow and spinning track. There were jitters in the Veterans camp as they lost very quick wickets and were struggling at 48/5 in 10th. On occasion it looked like the team will bundle out for score lower than 100. It took an excellent, gritty performance from Niranjan Paradkar 58(42) to bail out the Veterans and put up a fighting total of 132/10 on this tricky wicket. Rahul Shetty was the second-best scorer from Veterans with 23(23).
Bhushan Talawadekar was pick of the bowlers from Cosmos 11 who gave miserly 11 runs in 4 overs bagging first 3 crucial top order wickets. Mohd Riyaz, Suyog Rane and Hardik Kurangale bagged 2 wickets each to stop the march the mighty Veterans. The match was evenly poised at end of first innings and Veterans sniffing humiliating upset in finals. Cosmos11 failed to hold on to the opportunity of capitalizing on low sore and put pressure on Veterans bowlers. Pacer Gaurav Bengre showed his class by bagging wicket on the very first ball of the 2nd innings and very next ball scalped the blue-eyed boy of Cosmos 11 and profilic scorer of the tournament Mohd Riyaz for a duck. Riyaz fell into the well-planned trap of Gaurav and got caught at midwicket trying to pull on a steep bouncer.
Post that Cosmos 11 never looked to be in chase as Rahul Shetty broke into the middle order bagging 4 wickets for 20 in 3.5 overs. Lone fight was put up by Bhushan Talawdekar with his cameo innings of 39 (22) balls with wickets tumbling at another end. Sameer Rane was the second-best scorer in Cosmos 11 scoring 27(35).
