Mumbai: Yogesh Dongre was in cracking form and smashed a 62-ball unbeaten century knock of 122 runs to steer New Hind SC to a fluent 2-wicket win over hosts Lord Northbrook CC in a Group-D match of the 2nd LNCC OMNI Global Invitational Under-22 Invitation Cricket Tournament 2021-2022, organised by Lord Northbrook CC under the aegis of Mumbai Cricket Association, and played at the New Hind ground, Matunga.
Lord Northbrook preferring to bat were bowled out for 183 runs in 36.5 overs. Parshad Bodke 43 runs, Jay Jain 36, and Harshal Jadhav 33 runs contributed to the total while Vishwajit Jagdale took 4 wickets for 22 runs. In response, New Hind boosted by Dongre’s solid knock which contained 14 boundaries and seven sixes enabled them clinch the win.
In a Group-E match, Shivaji Park Youngster snatched a narrow 2-wicket win against Wellington SC at the Our Cricket Club ground, Virar. Sent in to bat, Wellington SC were bundled out for 182 runs in 34 overs. In reply, Shivaji Park Youngster pulled off a close win reaching 183 for 8 wickets in 39.5 overs. Deepak Verma top-scored with 73 runs and Ryan Castelino made 35 runs to secure the win.

On April 21, Bombay Gymkhana took on Fort Vijay Cricket Club during the quarter final of MCA U19 Mangrol Cricket Tournament. Fort Vijay Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Riding on Anshul Murli’s delectable 113 off 90 balls, Bombay Gymkhana posted a stiff target of 6-303 in 40 overs. Murli, who opened the batting, hammered 15 boundaries and two sixes during his blitzkrieg. Wasim Ashraf was the other major contributor with the bat. Coming lower down the order, Ashraf smashed an unbeaten 69 off 34 balls to help his side go past the 300-run mark. On the other hand, Sachin Kumar was the pick of the bowlers for Fort Vijay Cricket Club. Kumar claimed 2-52 in eight overs.
In reply, Fort Vijay Cricket Club were bowled out for 240 in 37.5 overs, losing the match by 63 runs. Siddhant Rai top scored with 68 runs off 62 balls. With the ball, for Bombay Gymkhana, Moin Shaikh, Sohan Talekar and Pranay Rana wreaked havoc picking up three wickets apiece. Shaikh, who opened the bowling was the most economical bowler as he conceded just 29 runs in seven overs.
Anshul Murli, Wasim Ashraf and Moin Shaikh were the top performers of the match. The trio helped Bombay Gymkhana beat Fort Vijay Cricket Club by 63 runs to enter the semi-finals of MCA U19 Mangrol Cricket Tournament.
Mumbai: A splendid bowling performance by Jassim Matharoo who picked 5 wickets for 15 runs helped OMNI Global Sports Management CC register a commanding 9-wicket win against Sainath SC in a Group-B match of the 2nd LNCC OMNI Global Invitational Under-22 Invitation Cricket Tournament 2021-2022, organized by Lord Northbrook CC under the aegis of Mumbai Cricket Association, and played at the Sainath SC, Virar on Thursday.
Electing to field first, OMNI Global dismissed Sainath SC cheaply for 67 runs in 21.2 overs. Matharoo received good support from Soham Rane who claimed 3 wickets for 22 runs. In reply, OMNI Global easily chased the target reaching 71 runs for the loss of one wicket with 71 for 1 wicket in 11.3 overs. Vedant Patil was unbeaten on 34 runs and Adil Shaikh also remained not out on 31 runs.
In another Group-B encounter, Dr. D.Y. Patil SA powered by a century knock from Hitesh Chauhan 117 runs (93-balls, 16x4s, 1x6s) and a steady batting effort from Omkar Umbarkar 67 runs (82-balls, 7x4s) charged to a 8-wicket victory against Mumbai Police Gymkhana at the latter’s ground.
Mumbai Police who were sent into to bat, managed to score 218 runs for 9 wickets in 40 overs. Aakash Parmar 51 runs (72-balls, 4×4s, 1x6s) and Sachin Rathod 49 runs (62-balls, 4×7s) helped build the Mumbaui Police innings. D.Y. Patil SA were well-served by Hitesh and Omkar and without much resistance from the rival bowlers easily crossed the finish line.
In a Group-D encounter, Goregaon SC bowled tidily and then batted steadily to record a 7-wicket win against M.V. Sports Club at the Goregaon SC ground. Batting first, M.V. Sports were bowled out for 96 runs in 26.2 overs with Satyalaksh Jain scoring an unbeaten 47 runs. Later, Goregaon SC chased the winning runs scoring 100 for the loss of just 3 wickets in 15.3 overs. Jash Gainga contributed 23 runs and Manan Bhatt remained not out on 21 runs to see the team through.

Mumbai and Rajasthan locked horns against each other in the semi-final of U25 Col. C.K.Nayudu Trophy. The match was played between April 18 and April 21 in Ahmedabad. Mumbai won the toss and elected to bat first.
1st innings
Riding on Hardik Tamore’s brilliant 87 off 149 balls, Mumbai posted a challeging total of 288 in 86 overs. Tamore smashed 10 boundaries and a six during his innings. Opening batter Bhupen Lalwani also made a useful contribution of 72 runs from 106 balls, including eight boundaries and three sixes. On the other hand, for Rajasthan, SS Dhiwan was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped 4-19 in 10 overs.
In reply, Rajasthan could only manage to score 103 as they were bowled out in 43.1 overs. Shams Mulani wreaked havoc with the ball as he struck with 6-27 in 13 overs. The left arm spinner, who opened the bowling for Mumbai, bowled four maidens. On the other hand, for Rajasthan, Karan Lamba top scored with 42 runs off 88 balls.
2nd innings
Picking up from where they had left in the first innings, Mumbai added 251 runs in 56.2 overs to their first innings lead of 185 runs. At the end of the second innings, Mumbai had a total lead of 436 runs. Saksham Jha top scored with 66 runs off 59 balls, including nine boundaries and two sixes. With the ball, for Rajasthan, MJ Suthar and SS Dhiwan bowled well in tandem to claim four wickets apiece.
In reply, Rajasthan were bowled out for 228 in 61 overs, to lose the match by 208 runs. It was Shams Mulani again who rattled Rajasthan with his 5-71 in 23 overs. In this innings, he controlled the middle overs and bowled with utmost discipline. With the bat, for Rajasthan, Puneet Mishra starred with the bat as he mustered 60 runs off 126 balls.

Mumbai’s Shams Mulani was the top performer of the match. Mulani picked up 11-98 in 36 overs to power Mumbai to the finals of U25 Col. C.K.Nayudu Trophy.

On April 21, Shivaji Park Youngsters took on Wellington Sports Club at Our’s Cricket Club in Virar. The match was played as a part of the 2nd LNCC Omni Global Invitation U22 Tournament. Shivaji Park Youngsters won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Batting first, Wellington Sports Club piled up a challenging score of 182 in 34 overs. The opening pair of Saqib Mulani (31 runs off 35 balls) and Shubham Mistry stitched a 70-run partnership to lay a solid foundation. Mitry top scored for his team with 42 runs off 45 balls, including eight boundaries. On the other hand, Saiyam Jain was the pick of the bowlers for Shivaji Park Youngsters. The off spinner scalped 3-33 in six overs. Right arm speedster Ryan Castelino also bowled well as he struck with 2-19 in eight overs.
In reply, Shivaji Park Youngsters pulled off a great run chase as they crossed the line in 39.5 overs, to win the match by two wickets. Deepak Verma led the run chase from the front with a brilliant 73 off 82 balls. Verma hammered a couple of boundaries and three sixes during his entertaining knock. Ryan Castelino also made a useful contribution with the bat scoring 35 runs off 38 balls. For Wellington Sports Club, Mukund Sardar chipped in with 2-29 in 7.5 overs.

Malak yesterday completed 50 years and on the occasion of his 50th birthday, Malak’s friends and family decided to surprise and acknowledge him in a unique way. Yogesh’s closed ones arranged a birthday bash for him wherein he was gifted a garland made of 50 leather balls and a cricket ground based animated cake to celebrate his half century.
Yogesh might have scored many half centuries on the cricket field but yesterday it was a half century of his own life which certainly got celebrated in a memorable way. A personal landmark celebrated in the most unique way!
Mumbai: Larsen & Toubro SC held their nerves in the tense closing stages to snatch a thrilling one-run victory against Abhyudaya Bank SC in a Plate Category Group-C match of the 10th Insurance Shield T20 Inter-Office Cricket Tournament, organised by Oriental Insurance under the aegis of MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) and played at the Youths Own Union ground, Cross Maidan.
Sent in to bat first, Larsen & Toubro managed to score 144 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Opener Kalpesh Yeralkar played a responsible innings and scored 43 runs, while all-rounder Jatin Sethi contributed 34 runs to prop the total. Abhyudaya bowlers Mangesh Shinde (2 for 18), Pradip Kanchan (2 for 26), and Sushil Rane (2 for 34) shared the wickets.
In reply, Abhyudaya Bank batted positively and with Pradip Kanchan batting fluently they looked set to reach the winning target. But after Kanchan’s dismissal for a solid 63 runs, Abhyudaya Bank lost the fight and the match by a very close margin.
In a Group-A match, BEST Arts & SC defeated Canara Bank SC by a huge 82-run margin. Batting first BEST scored 145 for 5 wickets in 20 overs with Devraj Gaikwad 36 runs, Ketan Dhatavkar 28 runs, and Mandar Patil 26 runs contributing to the total. BEST bowlers were a disciplined lot and bowled out Canara Bank for 63 runs in 17.5 overs. Kiran Khanvilkar 4 for 8 runs was the leading wiket-taker while Pravin Pednekar 2 for 9, and Nilesh Karmale 2 for 14 played the supporting roles.
In an Elite Category encounter, hosts Oriental Insurance SC suffered a 77-run defeat at the hands of New India Assurance at the National CC ground, Cross Maidan.

What was the motivation behind conducting this awards function?
A lot of small events happen here and there, Delhi will conduct an event for Delhi Cricketers, Hyderabad will do that for Hyderabad Cricketers, BCCI recently did one awards function at Motera for India U19 Team but no one has executed a grand award function where in promising and young cricketers from Different States can be called up on one stage. Hence, GoChamps decided to conduct this event giving a platform to those young cricketers.
What was the purpose and on what basis were the cricketers selected?
We conducted this awards function under the aegis of Mansi Mistry Foundation. We had invited Mr.Chetan Sharma who is the current senior member of the selection committee and also a former Indian Cricketer. The purpose was to bring these talented cricketers under the eyes of seniors like Chetan Sharma and others because these kids are the future and they need a platform where they are recognized. Now take example of Musheer, he has been consistently performing at all age groups for Mumbai and he is one player to watchout for, similarly alongwith Musheer we selected 11 such promising cricketers.
In what capacity were the selected players acknowledged or recognized in the GoChamps Awards Function?

Can you tell us more about GoChamps Brand?
GoChamps is a sports brand formed under Ascent Group which already owns Flamingo Brand. Flamingo makes post injury supportive products & has been around for more than 2 decades. However, many players shared feedback to make products which they can wear while playing to prevent injuries. That is when we decided to make GoChamps. It’s been 2 years now since we have done a lot of R&D and in 2 years we have made 8 medically certified products.
We all know a shelf life of a Sportsperson is very low, It’s on an average 10 to 12 years, the extra ordinary ones have between 12-20 yrs. In already such small shelf life, there is a fear of getting injured. Once a player gets injured, it’s difficult to recover and I have seen many careers getting over due to injuries including mine! The recovery gets difficult and its time consuming in most cases. Hence, we have decided to introduce injury preventive products which players/athletes can wear it along on the ground to avoid injuries. Mumbai: The 2nd LNCC OMNI Global Invitational Under-22 Invitation Cricket Tournament 2021-2022, organized by Lord Northbrook CC under the aegis of Mumbai Cricket Association, is scheduled to commence from Thursday, April 21.
A total of 20 teams, divided into five groups will be competing for the top honours in this tournament, will be conducted as per the New Model Rules of the Mumbai Cricket Association.
Players born on or after 01 September 1999 and born on or before 31 August 2003 will be eligible to participate in the tournament. However, a maximum four players with lower age, an exemption with a cutoff date of born on or after 01 September 2003 and born on or before 31 August 2006 will be allowed to participate.
All matches will consist of one innings per side, each innings being limited to a maximum of 40 overs. All matches shall be of one day’s scheduled duration. One bowler can bowl maximum 8 overs.
The 20 teams – Group-A: Fort Vijay CC, Shivaji Park Gymkhana, Parsee Gymkhana, MIG CC.
Group-B: Mumbai Police Gymkhana, OMNI CC, Sainath SC, Dr. D.Y. Patil SA.
