On May 1, Omni Global Sports Management handed a crushing six wicket defeat to Jai Visheshwar during the Milan Tournament. Jai Visheshwar won the toss and elected to bat.

Batting first, Jai Visheshwar were bundled out for a paltry 62 in 14.1 overs. Omni Global Sports Management’s Omkar Maldikar wreaked havoc with the ball as he scalped 5-18 in four overs. Maldikar rattled the opposition in a jiffy with his disciplined bowling effort. On the other hand, Jai Visheshwar’s Roshan was the lone warrior as he scored a 19-ball 24.

In reply, Omni Global Sports Management completed the formalities in 11 overs with six wickets in hand. Atharva Chavan led the run chase with an unbeaten 27 off 28 balls. On the other hand, for Jai Visheshwar, Subham, Roshan and Yogesh chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Omkar Maldikar was the top performer in the match. His five wicket haul helped Omni Global Sports Management register a six wicket win over Jai Visheshwar in Milan Tournament.

Bipin Sharma (Commissioner Thane municipal corporation).

The opening match of the tournament was played between Eknath Shinde CC 1 vs Regal Sports Academy where in Regal Sports Academy after being put to bat first managed a total of 143/7 in 20 overs. Gaurav Jathar at no.5 top scored with 59 runs off 36 balls. From the bowlers, it was right armer Nipun Panchal who displayed amazing performance to return with envious bowling figures of 5/26 in 4 overs. Off the 6 wkts lost by Regal, Nipun bagged 5 of those providing timely breakthroughs.

Eknath Shinde CC in reply chased down the score in mere 13 overs winning the match handsomely by 9 wkts and 7 overs to spare. Openers Akhil Herwadkar and Jaideep Pardeshi gave a flying start of 95 runs within 8 overs as both the players scored match winning half centuries. Akhil scored 51 off 28 balls while Jaideep scored 71* off mere 32 balls to finish things in style.

Mumbai: J. Bhatia Sports Club powered by the unbeaten century knocks from middle-order batsmen Rajendra Dabhade 118 not out and Rushil Parkar 113 not out, and the effective bowling by Kunj Vora 4 for 49 and Abhijit Sarmalkar 3 for 39, charged to a 84-run win against Prime Group Cricket Club in a Group-B section match of the MCA Dr. H.D. Kanga knockout cricket tournament 2022, and played at the New Hind ground, Matunga.

Electing to bat first, J. Bhatia SC boosted by the big innings from Dabhade and Parkar amassed a mammoth 344 runs for 4 wickets in 45 overs. Later, J.Bhatia SC bowlers Vora and Sarmalkar cleaned up the Prime Group batting which closed at 260 all out in 39.5 overs. Prime Group leading batter was Pratik Parab 68 runs, Pankaj Patwekar 41 runs and a decent knock by Samrat Mitra 31 not out.

In a closely contested match, Wasim Ashraf’s match-winning bowling performance 6 wickets for 28 runs helped Bombay Gymkhana snatch a tight 19-run victory against Bhama Cricket Club at the Bombay Gymkhana ground.

Put in to bat, Bombay Gymkhana were bundled out for 111 runs in 35.6 overs. Moin Shaikh contributed 42 runs while Bhama CC’s Bharat Solanki claimed 4 for 14 runs. Later, Ashraf along with Darshan Tiwari 3 for 11, combined perfectly to bowl out Bhama CC for a paltry 92 runs in 23.2 overs. Dhruv Chaudhary made a defiant 31 runs.

Meanwhile, a collective all-round effort enabled Jaico Cricket Club record a 10-wicket win against Errant Cricketers at the High Court ground, Oval Maidan. Errant Cricketers choosing to bat were skittled out for 117 runs in 37 overs. The lone batsman to get runs on the board was  Nikhil Karkera 56 runs, while Majid Qureshi 4 for 15, Harikesh Yadav 3 for 17, and Abhishek Yadav 3 for 22 shared the wickets. Jaico CC easily chased down the target reaching 118 for no loss in 23 overs. Openers Gaurav Dalvi and Rishikesh Puranik were both unbeaten on 59 runs and  43 runs to see their team home.

In another one-sided encounter, Diamond Star CC riding on Rohan Punjani 132 runs and Shubham Randive 56 runs defeated Glorious CC by commanding 156 runs. Batting first Diamond CC scored 304 and lost all 10 wickets in 43.1 overs. Later, impressive bowling by Tejas Patani 5 for 26 and Minesh Shah 3 for 28 got rid of the Glorious CC batsmen for 148 runs in 27.3 overs to complete their win.

On May 1, GST & Customs Pune locked horns against Venkys (KPL) in the finals of SPJ Corporate Championship in Pune. Venkys won the toss and elected to bat.

Riding on Sujit Ubale’s delectable half-century, Venkys posted a fighting score of 5-173 in 20 overs. Ubale smashed eight boundaries and two sixes during his knock of 73 from 50 balls. On the other hand, for GST & Customs Pune, Kamal Passi was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 3-42 in four overs.

In reply, GST & Customs Pune completed the formalities in 18.3 overs with nine balls and six wickets to spare. Prayag Bhati led the run chase from the front with a masterclass 72 off 44 balls. Bhati hammered seven boundaries and three sixes in his unbeaten innings. On the other hand, Venkys had an ordinary outing with the ball. Anand Thenge, Sujit Ubale and Deepak Dangi accounted for one wicket each.

On May 1, Modern Cricket Club took on Apollo Youngsters during the Group A match of Kanga Knock Out Tournament. Modern Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bat first at Cross Maidan in Mumbai.

Batting first, Modern Cricket Club posted a respectable score of 235 in 44.5 overs. Rutunjay Rahane top scored with 69 runs off 70 balls. The middle order batter smashed eight boundaries and a six during his innings. Ravi Vishwakarma was the other major contributor with the bat who mustered a 57-ball 39. On the other hand, for Apollo Youngsters, Atharva Parab and Vishal Gajra were the most successful bowlers. The duo scalped three wickets apiece.

In reply, Apollo Youngsters were bundled out cheaply for 139 in 37.4 overs. Omkar Patankar (39) and Hrishikesh Sule (32) fought hard but failed to take their side home. Apart from Patankar and Sule, there were no other major contributions with the bat for Apollo Youngsters. On the other hand, Ravi Vishwakarma (3-23) and Kartik Savla (3-35) wreaked havoc with the ball for Modern Cricket Club as they claimed three wickets apiece. Early in the day, Savla also scored 19 runs off 25 balls. 

A combined team effort helped Modern Cricket Club beat Apollo Youngsters by 96 runs during the Group A match of Kanga Knock Out Tournament.

Hyderabad’s young prodigy Aryan Reddy from Little Scholar School who has been piling runs across all levels and formats continues to impress with the bat. Aryan recently participated in an open age SCG Premier League Tournament where he was the only kid to play alongside and vs players between 19 to 30yrs of age.

3M Hit XI batting first scored 190/6 in 20 overs at SCG Cricket Ground with KK Konda Top Scoring with 90 runs off 54 balls which included 13 fours. Cricket United in reply could only manage 155/9 in 20 overs but it was young prodigy Aryan Reddy who top scored for his team with a solid knock of 59 runs off 51 balls. Aryan showed grit and composure vs a bowling attack senior to him.

3M HIT XI won by 35 runs & KK Konda was declared ‘man of the match. On the other hand, it was also pleasing to see Aryan rising up the ranks.

On April 29, WNS Global Services ‘B’ team took on CEAT during the 46th Thanevaibhav Corporate Tournament. WNS won the toss and elected to field first at Central Maidan in Thane.

Invited to bat first, CEAT were bowled out for 134 in 19.5 overs. K Krishnan who opened the batting top scored with 60 runs off 39 balls. Apart from Krishnan, there were no major contributions with the bat for CEAT. On the other hand, for WNS, Ajinkya Dhumal was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped 3-14 in four overs.

In reply, WNS made light work of the run chase as they completed the formalities in just 13.2 overs. Aditya Nikam led the run chase with a blistering 92. Nikam thrashed the CEAT bowling attack to all parks of the ground with 15 boundaries and four sixes. On the other hand, CEAT’s bowling looked listless as they could pick up just the two wickets.

Teleperformance Global Services took on Mafatlal Cricket Club during the ‘B’ Division Times Shield match. The game was played at the Western Railway cricket ground in Mumbai on April 26 and 27. Mafatlal Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bat first.

Riding on twin half-centuries from Akhil Rajput and Karansinh Nandey, Mafatlal Cricket Club piled up 275 runs in 54.4 overs. Rajput, who opened the batting, top scored with 63 runs off 61 balls, while Nandey mustered 51 runs off 55 balls. On the other hand, for Teleperformance Global Services, Akhtar Shaikh and Shrihan Walawalkar wreaked havoc with the ball. The duo scalped three wickets apiece.

In reply, Teleperformance Global Services cruised to the target in 56.4 overs, with five wickets in hand. Ramanpreet Singh led the run chase with an unbeaten 79 off 99 balls. The middle order batter smashed 10 boundaries and a six during his match winning innings. Singh batted well with Jaykishen Kolsawala, who scored 86 runs off 92 balls. On the other hand, for Mafatlal Cricket Club, Puneet Tripathi and Rohit Singh claimed two wickets each.

Teleperformance Global Services outclassed Mafatlal Cricket Club by five wickets in the ‘B’ Division Times Shield match.

Mumbai: The excellent bowling display from Parth Chandan 4 wicket for 44 runs, including a hat-trick, and Yash Kripal 3 wickets for 44 runs proved effective as Dr. D.Y. Patil SA snatched a close 3-wicket victory against OMNI Global SM in a second round Group-B match of the 2nd LNCC OMNI Global Invitational Under-22 Invitation Cricket Tournament 2021-2022, organised by Lord Northbrook CC under the aegis of Mumbai Cricket Association, and played at the Karnatak SA ground, Cross Maidan.

D.Y. Patil’s electing to field first proved to be perfect decision as Chandan and Kripal picked up wickets at regular intervals and dismissed OMNI Global for 177 runs in 35.1 overs. Neelakash Tambe defied the rival attack making an unbeaten 60 runs. In response D.Y. Patil struggled a bit but managed to reach 178 for the loss of 7 wickets in 39 overs. Shubham Mane scored an unbeaten 44 runs to see the D.Y. Patil reach home.

In another match, Payyade Sports Club romped to a 7-wicket win against Bombay Gymkhana in a Group-C match. Bombay Gymkhana preferring to bat was bowled out for a paltry 124 in 28.5 overs with Aarya Satpute making 41 runs and Payyade bowlers Dev Patel 4 for 36 runs and Atharva Dakve 3 for 22 runs getting the wickets. Later, Payyade without much fuss chased down the target making 126 runs for 3 wickets in just 16.3 overs. Harsh Rane was the leading batsman scoring 66 runs.

Shivaji Park Gymkhana (SPG) batsman Roopkumar Yadav smashed a 63-ball 77 runs and bowler Nandan Kamath claimed 3 wickets for 43 runs to guide their team to a fluent 78-run victory against Parsee Gymkhana in a Group-A encounter. Batting first SPG thanks to Yadav’s solid knock piled up a massive total of 238 for 7 wicket in 40 overs. Vansh Devendra chipped in with 33 runs, whiule Anjdeep Lad 3 for 57 and Yash Singh 2 for 24 were Parsee Gym’s successful bowlers. Later, SPG dismissed Parsee Gymkhana for a mere 160 runs in 32 overs. Dashrath Chavan was the lone batsman to score 31 runs.
