Ninad Kadam has been blowing in red hot form in the recent past. Kadam, a top order batter, has smashed two centuries and one half-century in his last three outings.
Playing for Space Sports Club against Route Mobile in a Times Shield match on April 20, Kadam, a top order batter struck a delectable 56 not out against Greater Mumbai Police. His half-century steered Space Sports Club to a seven-wicket win over Greater Mumbai Police.
Picking up from where he had left, Kadam plundered 101 runs off 133 balls, including 11 boundaries against Route Mobile on May 1 and 2. He played an integral role in his team’s effort to post 425 runs in 75 overs. His match defining innings helped Space Sports Club beat Route Mobile by 53 runs.
Going from strength to strength, Kadam was the centre of attraction again as he hammered 161 off 200 balls. He achieved the feat against Teleperformance in a Times Shield match on May 10 and 11. His stellar knock, including 16 boundaries and a six powered his team to post 302 runs in 72.1 overs. His game changing innings guided Space Sports Club to a 101-run win over Teleperformance.

On May 7, United Sports took on Speed Sports 17 during the Mira Bhayander Challenger League (MBCL Two). Speed Sports 17 won the toss and elected to bat at Bravo Cricket Academy Ground.
Batting first, Speed Sports 17 put together 7-115 in 20 overs. Opening batter Shreyas top scored with a 37-ball 33 and found an able ally in Anjit who contributed with a 17-ball 26. On the other hand, United Sports’ Arpan Das was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 2-5 in three overs, including one maiden.
In response, United Sports made light work of the run chase as they completed the formalities in 17.3 overs with nine wickets in hand. Opening batter Abdul Hadi led the run chase with a delectable 56 off 54 balls. Hadi hammered eight boundaries during his unbeaten innings and stitched a 85-run partnership with his skipper Fardeen Shaikh (34) before the latter was run out. On the other hand, Speed Sports 17’s bowling looked listless as they failed to pick up a single wicket.

On May 9, Sainath Cricket Academy U15 locked horns against Speed Sports during the Mira Bhayander Challenger League (MBCL Two). Sainath Cricket Academy won the toss and elected to bat at Bravo Cricket Academy Ground.
Batting first, Sainath Cricket Academy put together 7-119 in 20 overs. Sanchit Sawantakar top scored with a 32-ball 28 and received good support from Prem Mohite who chipped in with a 16-ball 25. On the other hand, Speed Sports’ Mann Kohli was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged 4-26 in four overs.
In reply, Speed Sports fought tooth and nail as they almost chased down the total scoring 116 in 18 overs. However they were bundled out just three runs shy of the target. Captain Kohli led the run chase with a 53-ball 44, hitting eight boundaries. On the other hand, Sainath Cricket Academy’s Veer Shinde wreaked havoc with the ball as he scalped 5-31 in four overs, including one maiden. Shinde stymied the run chase with his brilliant bowling effort.

Mumbai: The standout batting of Smin Kini 107 runs (156-balls, 14x4s) and Marlesh Shinde 105 runs (116-balls, 14x4s, 1×6) and the mesmerizing bowling by Yagnesh Kamat (7 for 20) were instrumental in Thane Centre registering an innings and 102 runs win against Kalyan Centre on the second day of their 2-day third round match of the 25th Ajit Naik Memorial Under-14 selection trials cricket tournament 2022, organised by WSC under the aegis of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the KDMC ground, Kalyan.
Thane dominated the match from the start dismissing Kalyan for 80 runs in 28.4 overs in their first innings. Aryan Vichare (4 for 29) and Smin Kini (3 for 5) shared the Kalyan wickets. The Thane batsmen batted confidently with Smin and Marlesh, both cracking centuries and declared their first innings at 295 for 4 wickets in 28.4 overs to gain a healthy 215 lead. The Kalyan second innings was rocked by Yagnesh who took wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for 113 runs in 50.1 overs and lost the match.
In another match, Nallasopara Centre powered by the Prasoon Singh who claimed match figures of 10 wickets for 73 runs scored a comprehensive win defeating Tarapur Centre by an innings and 126 runs, at the Sainath Sports Club ground, Virar. Batting first Nallasopara Centre declared the first innings after making a massive 315 runs for 6 wickets in 66.2 overs. Later, the Tarapur batsmen struggled against the Nallasopara bowlers, in particular Prasoon (5 for 32) and were bundled out for 65 runs in 32.1 overs. Following on Tarapur once again found it difficult to bat and except for captain Daiwik Save who scored 58 run, the other batsmen fell cheaply as Prasoon claimed 5 for 41) to destroy the Tarapur second innings for 124 runs in 47.2 overs and complete the win.

Patil SA in a second round Group-B match of the 2nd LNCC OMNI Global Invitational Under-22 Invitation Cricket Tournament 2021-2022, organised by Lord Northbrook CC under the aegis of Mumbai Cricket Association, and played at the Karnatak SA ground, Cross Maidan.
Sainath SC batting first piled up a huge 243 runs for 5 wickets in 40 overs. Rahul Nandgaonkar scored 47 runs to prop the innings. Later, Durvesh and Adarsh picked up crucial wickets to dismiss D.Y. Patil for just 72 runs in 20.3 overs to complete the win. Tanish was named ‘Player of the Match’.
In a Group-D match, Goregaon SC romped to a 7-wicket win against Lord Northbrook CC at the Goregaon SC ground. The highlight of Goregaon’s win was Mannan Bhat who claimed 3 wickets for 24 runs as Lord Northbrook were restricted to 172 for 8 wickets in 40 overs. In reply, Goregaon easily scored 173 for 3 wickets in 31.4 overs with Mannan being the leading scorer making 49 runs, while Jash Gangia 43 runs and Aryan Patni scoring 39 to steer the team home. Mannan was declared ‘Player of the Match’.
In a Group-A encounter, Shivaji Park Gymkhana handed Fort Vijay CC a 70-run defeat at the Sunder CC ground, Cross Maidan. Shivaji Park Gymkhana riding on the batting efforts of Sahil Gode 104 runs and Pratik Shukla 63 runs finished their innings at a healthy 245 for 8 wickets in 37 overs. Fort Vijay bowlers Akhilesh Shimpi 4 for 49 and Naufil Rozan 3 for 43 got the wickets. In response, Fort Vijay could only score 175 runs for 9 wickets in 37 overs. Mumbai: Team Red emerged champions defeating Team Purple by a comfortable 67-run margin in the final of the first Women’s T20 Cricket Tournament 2021-2022, organized by Victory Cricket Club in association with Pulse Sports Events Entertainment and Eagle Thane Strikers, and played at the Mumbai Police Gymkhana ground.
The star performers in Team Red’s success, was wicket-keeper batswoman Kushi Bhatia who slammed an unbeaten 53 runs and off-spinner Janhvi Kate who claimed 3 wickets for just 7 runs.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Team Red scored 155 for 4 wickets in 20 overs and then restricted Team Purple to 88 for 8 wickets in 20 overs to secure a convincing victory.
Team Red openers Aachal Vakanju (13 runs) and captain Jemimah Rodrigues (31 runs) provided Team Red with a solid solid start scoring 31 runs in 4 overs. Team Purple got the first breakthrough when Aachal was run out and a little later Indian cricketer Jemimah was dismissed after a quick 23-ball knock which was studded with 2 sweetly timed hits to the boundary ropes and 2 powerful sixes. Later, number 4 bat, Kushi scored runs freely and her half century innings came from 40 balls with 8 shots to the boundary.

Mahim juvenile CC won the toss and elected to field first which turned out to be a poor decision eventually as Aarey CC’s top four batsman scored fifties and piled up a massive score of 361 runs in 45 overs.Openers Padmanabhan Mudliar and Advay Shidhaye gave a blistering start with 128 runs opening partnership, Advay scored 85 runs of 70 balls (4’s- 11, 6’s-2) and Padmanabhan scored 52 runs 45 balls (4’s- 7, 6’s-1 ). Middle order batsman Akshad Redekar and Rushikesh Raut made sure the momentum continues. Akshad scored 76 runs of 69 balls (4’s-8 , 6’s-2 ) and Rushikesh Raut was the highest of runs scorers as he scored 87 runs of 55 balls which included 10 fours and 5 sixes. Prasanta Sahu of Mahim juvenile CC took 4 wickets for 72 runs.

On May 11, DTDC and JP Morgan clashed against each other during the Times Shield match. JP Morgan won the toss and elected to field at the Cross Maidan in Mumbai.
Invited to bat first, DTDC posted 4-289 in 40 overs, riding on four half-centuries from Sidharth Ghule, Anish Chaudhary, Satyalaksha Jain and Omkar Ghule. Siddharth Ghule top scored with 75 runs off 103 balls, followed by Omkar Ghule’s 66 off 31, Chaudhary’s 51 off 34 and Jain’s 50 off 52. On the other hand, JP Morgan’s Abhishek Rajadhyaksha was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped 2-75 in eight overs.
In reply, JP Morgan were bowled out for a paltry 108 in 28 overs. DTDC’s bowlers derailed JP Morgan’s run chase with ease. Devendranath Parida was the wrecker-in-chief as he claimed 5-37 in eight overs, including one maiden. Parida won the golden ball for his valiant bowling effort. Omkar Ghule also chipped in with 3-16 in six overs, including one maiden. On the other hand, JP Morgan’s Rajadhyaksha was the lone warrior in the fight as he top scored with 25 runs off 19 balls.
DTDC beat JP Morgan by 181 runs in the Times Shield. Devendranath Parida, Sidharth Ghule, Anish Chaudhary, Satyalaksha Jain and Omkar Ghule were the top performers in the match.
Men in Blue opting to bat first at Fatima Cricket Ground in Vidyavihar had a batting feast notching up a stunning 219/3 in 20 overs. Even though, they lost both the openers early, Ajit Naik and Harpreet Singh at the middle order put on 162 run stand for the 4th wicket changing the course of the game. No.3 Ajit scored 80* off 49 balls smashing 8 fours and 3 sixes while Harpreet Singh who came at no.5 plonked 5 sixes and 9 fours en-route his 86* off mere 39 balls. Almost all the bowlers got thrashed apart from Ashish Redij who only conceded 24 runs in 4 overs.
Thunderbolts in reply could only muster 140/9 in 20 overs courtesy some tight bowling performance by Men in Blue bowlers. Subhash Kumar in particular was the most impressive of the lot returning with envious bowling figures of 3/10 in 4 overs.
Men in Blue won the match by 79 runs, Harpreet Singh declared ‘Elemnt’ Man of the Match Award as well as ‘Malkist’ Super Striker of the Match. Subhas Kumar was declared ‘Hell Energy” Economical Player of the Match.

Played at Fatima Cricket Ground in Mumbai, Ace Cricket Club after opting to bat first posted a total of 182/10 in 20 overs. Opener Rishi Pilani top scored with 44 runs off 29 balls smashing 7 fours while rest of the batters gave starts but couldn’t convert it into substantial scores. From the bowlers, Mayur Luthria with 3/43 in 4 overs was the pick of the lot while all-rounder Karan Tandon with 2/25 in 4 overs was the most reliable bowler for RMV. Raiees also bagged 2wkts for 35 runs in his spell of 4 overs.
RMV Strikers in reply chased down the score with superlative ease winning the match in commanding fashion by 7wkts and 9 balls to spare. Opener Sarfaraz Jumani gave a perfect start with a 30 ball 50 while it was Karan Tandon and Naved Shariff putting on an unbeaten stand of 111 runs for the 4th wicket. Karan scored 52* off 27 balls hitting 4 fours and 4 sixes while Naved Shariff scored 56* off 33 balls smashing 4 fours and 3 sixes.
RMV Strikers won the match, Karan Tandon declared ‘Elemnt Man of the Match Award”. Karan also bagged ‘Malkist’ Super Striker of the Match Award while Rahul Shejwal got ‘Hell Energy’ Economical Player of the Match Award.
