Ace Cricket Club opting to bat first at Fatima Cricket Ground in Vidyavihar posted a total of 137/8 in 20 overs. No.3 bat CK and no.5 Batsman Abhishek Jhaveri top scored with scores of 46 and 39 runs respectively. From the bowlers, Rishi Mapara was one of the standout performers in the match coming up with an impactful spell of 4/19 in 4 overs. Rishi provided timely breakthroughs and did not allow the opposition team to make a big total. Vinod. With 1/19 in 4 overs was also effective amongst the Antique Friends bowlers.

Antique Friends in reply could only muster 128/7 in 20 overs courtesy tight bowling by ACE CC bowlers. Mumbai: Dadar Parsee Zoroastrian (DPZ) and Dadar Union scored contrasting quarter-final victories to advance into the semi-final of the John Bright Cricket Club organised MCA Rathod Trophy Under-25 T20 knockout cricket tournament.

In a one-sided encounter, DPZ outplayed Mumbai Police Gymkhana by scoring a 106 runs victory and earlier, Dadar Union showed solid fighting spirit to record a 1-wicket win against hosts Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in a tense and thrilling match, at the D.Y. Patil SA ground, Nerul.

DPZ electing to bat first amassed a tall total of 202 for 8 wickets from their 20 overs. Leading by example DPZ captain Vaibhav Kalamkar was in punishing mood cracking a 41-ball 87 runs with seven powerful sixes and four boundaries. Visharad Pagare and Meet Shethia scored 27 and 25 runs respectively. Mumbai Police bowlers Saksham Parshar 3 for 36 and Yogesh Shinde 2 for 38 tried their best but could not contain the DPZ batters from setting a huge target. Mumbai Police batsmen flopped and their innings closed at a dismal 96 all out in 15.3 overs. The only batsman to get some runs was Abhishek Pawar who made an unbeaten 21 runs. DPZ strike bowlers were Prashant Pillai 3 for 17, Shubham Giri 3 for 16, and Monu Chavan 2 for 14. For his valuable knock Vaibhav bagged the Player of the Match award.

Earlier, Dadar Union choosing to field, restricted D.Y. Patil Sports Academy to a low score of 126 for 8 in 20 overs. Suyash Patil 39 runs and Jai Shinde 25 runs were the two batsmen to get decent scores on the board. Siddhant Singh 2 for 16 was Dadar Union’s most effective bowler. In reply, Dadar Union managed to scrape through reaching 127 for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Sangram Bhalekar 27 runs, Agni Chopra 27 runs, and Yash Ramchandani 23 runs ensured the victory. Shubham Mane 3 for 22 and Uzar Khan 2 for 36 runs almost secured a win for the D.Y. Patil team. Siddhant Singh of Dadar Union won the Player of the Match award.

The Platinum finals of the JFSC 40+ League ensured a nail biting finish with both the teams giving their 100% to lift the coveted title. The grand finale was simply unbelievable with twists and turns, with some brilliant moments as well as individual performances. Mustang opting to bat first posted a total of 138/10 in 20 overs. Vikas Linga at no.3 played a very sensible innings smashing 51 off 38 balls hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes at a strike rate of 134.21 despite lacking support from the other end.  From the bowlers, Subhash Kumar (3/6) and Sunil Nair (3/20) were the pick of the lot.

Men In Blue were in deep trouble at one stage with scoreboard reading 4/15, 5/31 and 6/79 at the end of the 14th over. However, Sunil Sangle at no.7 played a brilliant innings almost taking the game away single handedly with a knock of 71* off 39 balls smashing 5 fours and 5 sixes. The match from nowhere became so close that it ended into a draw. From the bowlers, Rohit Saraf, Hitesh Patel and Jairaj Bisht bagged 2 wkts each.

In the Super Over, Men In Blue batted first managing 8 runs in 1 over with Ajit smashing a six in his 3 ball 7. Mustang in reply finished the match in style in mere 3 balls with Vikas Linga smashing 8* off 3 balls completing the job for his team with perfection. Vikas Linga was declared Man of the Match for his brilliant half century as well as his finishing cameo in the super over.

Thunderbolts after being put to bat first at Fatima Cricket Ground in Mumbai posted a healthy total on board scoring 194/5 in 20 overs. Openers gave a decent start with Chirag. Scoring 50 runs off 48 balls smashing 2 fours and a six. RRahul Keswani who came at no.5 played a DK’esque innings playing the finishers role to perfection smashing 57* off 21 balls, RRahul plonked 5 massive sixes alongwith 4 boundaries in his enterprising knock. From the bowlers, Samir Shah with 2/43 was the pick of the lot while Sujay Lotankar was the most economical of the lot taking 0/30 in 4 overs.

RRoaring Lions in reply could only manage 174/7 with Ketav Shah (42 runs off 37 balls) and Samir Shah (42* off 31 balls) being the top scorers. From the bowlers, Sandeep Valecha bowled a crucial spell returning with impactful bowling figures of 3/30 in 4 overs. Apart from Sandeep, Ashwin and Shakti also bagged 2 wkts each. On May 23, New Hind Sports Club’s Karan Shah plundered a blistering century against Mazgaon Cricket Club. Shah achieved the feat in the quarter final of the John Bright U25 T20 Tournament. 

Batting first, Mazgaon Cricket Club put together a daunting total of 6-193 in 20 overs. Harsh Mogaveera top scored with a 35-ball 65, including five boundaries and three sixes. Captain Siddhesh Gavande too made a useful contribution with the bat, scoring a 27-ball 43, hitting four boundaries and two sixes. For New Hind Sports Club’s Rohit Mane was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 3-26 in three overs. Mane bowled well with the new ball as well as in the death overs.

In reply, New Hind Sports Club completed the formalities in 19 overs with seven wickets in hand. Opening batter Karan Shah made mincemeat of the hapless bowling attack of Mazgaon Cricket Club. Shah pummeled half a dozen boundaries and nine sixes during his 53-ball 102. He stitched a match winning opening partnership of 165 in 15 overs with his partner Rugved More (57 runs off 41 balls). Mazgaon Cricket Club had an off day with the ball, with only Yash, Rohit Khot and Simant Dubey accounting for one wicket each.   

Karan Shah’s valiant century powered New Hind Sports Club to the semi-final of John Bright U25 T20 Tournament.

Mumbai:  Karnatak Sporting Association (KSA) emerged champions posting an emphatic 8-wicket victory against Parsee Gymkhana in the final of the MCA Under-19 Cricket Tournament 2021-22, organized by Mangrol Sports Club in association with Pulse Sports Events Entertainment and played at the Mumbai Police ground, Marine Drive on Monday.

Parsee Gymkhana preferring to bat first, struggled against the disciplined Karnatak bowlers, and their innings collapsed as they were dismissed cheaply for just 101 runs in 25.3 overs. Number 2 bat, Raj Deshmukh top-scored with 37 runs while Karnatak bowlers Himanshu Singh (2 for 4), Vedant Gadia (2 for 9), Aryan Shetty (2 for 13), and Satyam Yadav (2/29) were responsible for getting the wickets.

In response, Karnatak comfortably surpassed the winning target reaching 105 runs for 2 wickets in 19.5 overs. Number 3 bat Shubham Girkar scored an unbeaten 49 runs and Mayur Tarde also remained not out on 21 runs as Karnatak clinched the victory. Opener Harsh Rane had contributed 20, while Parsee Gymkhana’s Nishit Balla picked both the wickets (2/37).

Prem Lengre at no.6 top scored with 38 runs while Left Arm Spinners Nishit Balla & Manas Mukkadam bagged 3 wkts each with the ball being the pick of the lot. National CC in reply chased down the score successfully winning the match by 4 wkts crossing the victory line in the 39th over. 

Middle order bats Harsh Aghav and Parth Pathak stitched a crucial partnership together as both the players contributed with crucial knocks. Harsh Aghav remained unbeaten on 39* off 70 balls smashing 5 fours and 1 six while Parth Pathak at no.6 scored a half century smashing 52 off 61 balls, a knock which included 5 sixes!

Played at Fatima Cricket Ground in Mumbai, the all important Silver Finale took place on 22nd May, 22 where in Evershine XI opting to bat first could not make much of an impact scoring 126/10 in 20 overs. Even though only 2 batters managed to score in double digit, it was Ravi at no.5 scoring half of the team runs with 64 runs off 37 balls smashing 5 fours and 5 sixes. From the bowlers, Sam Sawant (2/24) and Roshan Shetty (2/24) were the pick of the lot.

Kensington CC in reply chased down the score with superlative ease winning the match in commanding fashion by 9 wkts. Opener Ram Badrinath and Tenzing Niyogi stitched an unbeaten 156* run stand for the 2nd wicket making things easier for Kensington Team. Ram scored 57* off 52 balls playing the anchors role while Tenzing Niyogi scored 70* off 47 balls smashing 7 fours and 2 sixes to decimitate the opposition bowling attack.

On May 21 and 22, D.Y. Patil Group A locked horns against Indian Oil Sports Club during the MCA Corporate Trophy in Mumbai. Indian Oil Sports Club won the toss and elected to field first.

Invited to bat, D.Y. Patil Group A posted a mammoth total of 8-419 in 75 overs. The opening pair of Bhupen Lalwani and Tanmay Mishra stitched a 275 run partnership to set the foundation. This partnership of 275 runs is the highest partnership for D.Y. Patil in its history of corporate cricket. While Lalwani hammered 120 runs off 147 balls, Mishra smashed 166 runs off 175 balls. In the process, the duo hit 34 boundaries and half a dozen sixes. On the other hand, Indian Oil Sports Club’s Amir Gani was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped 4-110.

In reply, Indian Oil Sports Club fought hard as they scored 348 in 65.5 overs. However they were bowled out falling short of 71 runs. Aakarshit Gomel (55), Arjun Dani (74), Arman Jaffer (54) and Aditya Tare (80) hit brilliant half-centuries, but failed to see their side home. Aniket Redkar from D.Y. Patil Group A picked up 5-101 to derail the run chase.

Tanmay Mishra, Bhupen Lalwani and Aniket Redkar were the top performers in the match for D.Y. Patil Group A against Indian Oil Sports Club in the MCA Corporate Trophy.
