Asserting his dominance in the 2022 Irani Cup, the purple patch for Sarfaraz Khan. Scoring almost a run a ball 125* by the end of day 1, the Mumbaikar has made his case for the Indian Test Team. The 2022 Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy and now the Irani Cup, Sarfaraz continues to impress everyone.

Rest Of India plays Saurashtra in the 2022 Irani Cup to make up for the 2020 tournament where Saurashtra was supposed to play but due to the pandemic the one-off game didn’t take place. Pranav Dhanawade, the wonderkid from Kalyan who scored a fictitious 1009* interacted with us in a cordial and candid interview. The conversation captured the young cricketer’s drive to thrive in the length and the breadth of cricket. Pranav talks about his career 6 years after the ridiculous feat.

Over the course of the interview, Pranav disclosed his engagements with cricket since his tender age. His feat of scoring more than 1000 runs in one inning was appreciated to which he responded that the event still feels surreal to him as he never thought about the possibility of scoring that amount let alone achieve it in reality. He also added that after setting the handsome record, he experienced a lot of ups and downs in life.

He drew attention to the 2020 lockdown which affected particularly his career as he wasn’t given an opportunity to perform in competitive cricket letting 2 years of the cricketing season go to waste. The record-breaker, despite the adversities, keeps his head high and pursues his dream with passion. Pranav now represents Victory Cricket Club in B Division of the Mumbai Circuit and  previously has played for Air India in corporate tournaments.

Pranav was invited by the Northwich Cricket Club, a club which is located 20 minutes away from the city of Manchester. Dhanawade was playing as an amatuer and performed brilliantly scoring 715 runs in his debut season with 1 emphatic century and 4 half-centuries to his name.

When asked about his future plans, Pranav was quite firm and clear. The wk-batsman aims to play for the Ranji Trophy Cricket and in the process also represent India on an international level.

In a recently held U-19 game between  Oakridge International School and Little Scholar School, the former came out on top. 14 Year old Aryan Reddy had an incredible game but unfortunately lost out.

Batting first,  Oakridge set a steep target of 338 in 50 overs as one-down batter Vasu Dev Sahoo scored an astonishing 94 off just 90 deliveries. He was supported by opener Aarush Paruchuri who got a half century to his name. Small but crucial contributions from other batsman propelled the total to 338. Reddy bowled economically and got 3 wickets too for Little Scholar. Abdul Rahman, Mandala Samridh and Azhar Sneith picked two wickets each.

Just as with the ball, Aryan stood apart with the bat. Scoring an impressive 112 off 124, Reddy dominated as he opened the innings. Hrishikesh Vemagal acted as his wingman scoring 54. Apart from these two, no other batsman even reached double digits. Little Scholar only managed 202 as Oakridge win by 136 runs.

Star of the game, Aryan is currently competing for a place in the Hyderabad U-16 State Team. With supreme domination in HCA U-19, it certainly pushes his case.

Salunkhe, a 26 year old cricketer turned sidearmer has started making a buzz around the localities of Mumbai for his expertise. But, before becoming a sidearm specialist, Salunkhe was invested into making his own career as a player.

Vivek is an excellent wicket keeper batsman. The Mumbaikar played for New Amrit CC competing in the tough maidans of Bombay. The cut-throat dogfights amplified his personality. Soon enough, Salunkhe found new love in the sidearm profession. To him, a sidearm specialist was an unique and intriguing job.

Couple of years ago when he was competing as a wicket keeper batsman, Vivek found new love in the sidearm profession. Playing for the New Amrit CC and Prabhu Jolly CC then, Salunkhe began his freelance career as a sidearmer. Alongside this, he also found a mentor-like figure in Coach Vinayak Samant. Samant sir played Ranji Trophy for Mumbai, Tripura and Assam as a wicket-keepr batsman and now, is a highly reputable coach. Samant highly rates Salunkhe and lauds his work ethic.

I  have known Vivek for the last few years. He is a very hardworking boy and very accurate sidearmer. He bowls 140+ consistently with both swings as well as he bowls off and leg cutters in proper areas He has got a  very bright future as a side arm specialist.

Coach Vinayak Samant shares his thoughts on Vivek

The siderarmer has fed and practiced with high-profile Ranji Trophy and club cricketers in Mumbai like Eknath Kerkar who is currently competing in the Duleep Trophy. Here are a few testimonials from esteemed players.

I had 2 great sessions with him and it was really great as he bowls somewhere around 130-140 kph! Whatever the length and line you wish, he will bowl accordingly. Message to all cricketers: Play against him! He is really good!
