Sontosh Kumar Ghosh Trophy Organized by Sporting Union Club and Kalyandas Memorial Sports Foundation, AJINKYA NAIK, SURAJ SAMAT, SANJAY NAIK, KALYANDAS MEMORIAL SPORTS FOUNDATION had their first game between Foundation Kamath Memorial defeats Oriental CC in the qualifiers. The standalone qualifier was played at Cross Maidan. Even with a competitive total, Oriental CC couldn’t hold back Wadkar from Kamath Memorial.

Batting first, Kamath Memorial scored a total of 253 in 70 overs. Openers Varun Doshi and Riyaansh Ramani gave a steady start as they scored 40 and 30 respectively. The biggest partnership was of Tanmay Malonkkar and Soham Sali. Coming in at number 3, Tanmay scored 61 off 95. Soham followed him and hammered 70 off 91. The downfall began after the top 4 batsmen fell and they were bowled out for 253. 

Only two bowlers were successful from Kamath Memorial CC. Gajanan Narapgol claimed 6 wickets in his marathon effort of 25 overs. Once he picked up the ball, the game heavily shifted towards his team. Rohan Patil supported him well by picking up the remaining 4 wickets in his 9 overs.

The Kamath Memorial started off shakily but were rescued by Sagar Gupta and centurion Priyansh Wadkar. Gupta scored an incredible counter-attack innings, facing 94 balls he hit 93, missing out his ton by just 3 runs.  Wadkar crossed the three figure mark and stayed not out. With 4 sixes and 14 boundaries, Wadkar faced 130 deliveries and scored 103 helping Kamath Memorial CC to qualify for the 10th Edition of the Ghosh Trophy. 

The Ghosh Trophy begins from 27th October. 

Mumbai: The combined efforts of Divyaansh Saxena who cracked a century 114 runs and Khizar Dafedar’s splendid bowling figures of 6 for 35 runs, were the highlights as Dadar Union Sporting Club clinched victory against United Cricketers on the basis of their massive 171-run first innings lead in a ‘B’ Division match of the 75th Dr. H.D. Kanga Cricket League 2022-2023.

Dadar Union, who batted first declared their first innings at 266 for 6 wickets. Besides Saxena’s big knock Siddhant Singh contributed with a half century knock of 56 runs. In reply, United Cricketers’ batters struggled against the disciplined bowling of Dafedar and their innings collapsed for a measly 95 runs, which enabled Dadar Union secure the win. Dafedar got good support from Sangram Bhalekar who took 3 for 26 runs.

In other matches which were decided on the first innings, Apollo CC defeated Victory CC; Young Maharashtra narrowly snatched the first innings lead against Bhatnagar Sports & Cultural Foundation. Fort Vijay CC outplayed Muslims United to gain a healthy 152-run first innings lead.

Dadar Union Sporting Club 266 for 6 decl. (Divyaansh Saxena 114, Siddhant Singh 56; Vishweshwar Singh 3/44) beat United Cricketers 95 all out (Swapnil Kamble 41; Khizar Dafedar 6/35, Sangram Bhalekar 3/26). Result: Dadar Union won on 1st innings lead.

Victory CC 129 all out (Suved Parkar 35; Pratik Sargade 5/62, Yash Singh 4/27) & 44/4 decl. lost to Apollo CC 133 for 2 decl. (Nutan Goel 59, Omkar Rahate 52). Result: Apollo CC won on 1st innings lead.

Khar Gymkhana 213 for 8 decl. (Hiken Shah 64, Dhrumil Matkar 41, Parag Khanapurkar 35; Akshay Darekar 6/45) Vs Goregaon SC 193 for 8 (Vedant Gadia 40, Jiniv Joshi 34, Aryant Patni 37). Result: Match drawn.

Parel Sporting Club 197 for 5 decl. (Sumeir Zaveri 75, Aman Jain 41, Harsh Mogaveera 40; Ketan Kharat 3/51) Vs Dadar Parsee Colony SC 75 for 6 (Anurag Singh 3/51). Result: Match drawn.

Bhatnagar Sports & Cultural Foundation 126 all out (Arman Shaikh 52; Umar Khan 4/18) lost to Young Maharashtra CC 131 for 9 (Ninad More 40; Atharv Dakway 4/25). Result: Young Maharashtra won on 1st innings lead.

Fort Vijay CC 207 for 7 decl. (Harshad Singh 65, Parag Jadhav 40*, Sayed Ahmed 39, Aaya Chowkidar 32; Nadeem Shaikh 3/63) Vs Muslims United SC 55 all out (Praful Devkate 4/17, Abul Kalam 3/10). Result: Fort Vijay won on 1st innings lead.

Sontosh Kumar Ghosh Trophy Organized by Sporting Union Club and Kalyandas Memorial Sports Foundation, AJINKYA NAIK, SURAJ SAMAT, SANJAY NAIK, KALYANDAS MEMORIAL SPORTS FOUNDATION,  kicking off from the 27th of October, the 10th season for boys will be contested at the maidan of Shivaji Park. 17 teams in total are taking part in the tournament. There will be a qualifying match between the Oriental Cricket Club and B V Kamat Memorial Club before the scheduled games begin. The dates, teams and venues of the games are in the picture:

Mumbai: A solid all-round performance from Iqbal Abdulla, who scored 68 runs and claimed 5 wickets for 48 runs, helped Dr. D.Y. Patil SA record a first innings win against P.J. Hindu Gymkhana in a ‘A’ Division match of the 75th Dr. H.D. Kanga Cricket League 2022-2023.

Batting first D.Y. Patil declared their first innings at 218 for 4. Besides Abdulla’s half ton Subramanian Doraiswami scored 63 runs and Srujan Athawale made 35. Later, Hindu Gymkhana were bowled out for 105 runs to concede a 113-run first innings lead. In the second innings D.Y. Patil scored 31 runs for no loss.

Meanwhile in other games, Prasad Pawar (111), Ramanpreet Ghoman (111) and Jayesh Pokhare (103) scored impressive hundereds to aid their respective team’s position

On 23rd October at Islam gymkhana, Islam Gymkhana  played against Young Mohammedan CC. After winning the toss, Young Mohammedan asked Islam Gymkhana to bat first. 

Islam Gymkhana’s innings lasted for 41 overs only as they were bundled up for 181. Bhavesh Patel and Swapnil Salvi were the top batters scoring 48 and 46 respectively. On the bowling side, the complete bowling unit completed a tremendous job but Imtiyaz Ahmad’s brilliant spell of 16 over 5 maiden 49 runs 4 wickets was the showstopper. Bharat Lohar supported him quite well as he took 3 wickets in his 9 overs. Kazi too contributed by purchasing 2 wickets. 

Young Mohammedan CC openers Atif Khan and Nikhil Madas’ crucial partnership of 50 runs giving decent start. It was Azhar Ahmad and Sufiyan Rehmani’s innings which sealed the deal for Young Mohammedan as they notched up 59 runs each and put 130 runs together. 

This was a crucial win for the Young Mohammedan CC against the Islam Gymkhana

Young Mohammedan CC owner Javed Kudia supported them quite well by providing good facilities .

10TH Sontosh Kumar Ghosh Trophy under the Aegis of Mumbai Cricket Association organized by Sporting Union Club & Kalyandas Memorial Sports Foundation for Under-16 Years age group boys will be staged at the grounds of Cross Maidan from October 27th to November 9th , 2022 . Finals will be held at SHIVAJI PARK GROUND, on November 8th & 9th , 2022 .

This is 10TH consecutive year under 16 years Boys cricket Tournament Inter Club Selection tournament titled ‘SONTOSH KUMAR GHOSH TROPHY’ with 16 teams affiliated to Mumbai Cricket Association from different parts in Mumbai will be organized by Sporting Union Club , With a view to spot, groom & nurture talent for the longer version of the game, each match is played over 2 days, 256 players from from various affiliated clubs to MCA as usual will be participating, at 8 different venues in Mumbai, hence it will be a 8-days event.\

Each game will be played as per the M. C. A. rules. The winners will be awarded “Shri Sontosh Kumar Ghosh Memorial Trophy ” and the runners up will be awarded “Kalyandas Memorial Sports Foundation Trophy ”.

With the kind blessings of M. C. A. Managing Committee, Kalyandas Memorial Sports Foundation Hansaben Mehta , Suraj Samant, Sanjay Naik and all our well wishers, Sporting Union Club will be organizing this tournament.

Also four individual performance awards will be awarded to the ‘Best Bowler’, Best Batsman’, and ‘Best All-rounder of the series’, “Man of The Match Award” for every match, along with the certificates and memento. This is a 22nd consecutive year old initiative. The event has succeeded in giving youth an opportunity to explore their talent. The Eprashala Ground at Kasara hosted a game between C division club Pandurangwadi and ARCC. The competitive match marked a new beginning for the ground of Eprashala. Between the valleys and silent surroundings, both the teams enjoyed an unforgettable match. Players were quite satisfied with the playing conditions as well as the ambiance. 

Eprashala will soon be holding numerous tournaments for cricketers. The ground is under the management of CricketGraph. Eprashala also possesses cottages to stay. Players coming from far off have the option to spend the night by the ground in one of the rooms and be ready for a game the next morning at Eprashala.
