Southpaw Samarth Seth will now represent the U-25 team of the Delhi team. After a strong return back to his home state from Andhra Pradesh, In 2021 Seth was kept on stand-by for the Mushtaq Ali squad but played for the U-25s. The batsman only received one opportunity and scored a half century in his first game for the team in last season. This year, Samarth is looking forward for a longer run.

The U16 Payyade Trophy, which is an MCA selection tournament is underway. Three-day matches are played as a part of this competition. Between November 6 and 8, two games were played. 

Sunil Gavaskar XI v Rohit Sharma XI

Riding on Harsh Aghav’s prolific batting performance, Sunil Gavaskar XI pipped Rohit Sharma by a massive margin of 141 runs. Batting first, Sunil Gavaskar XI piled up 419 in 86.4 overs, thanks to Aghav’s 204. On the other hand, for Rohit Sharma XI, Agastya Bangera was the top performer with the ball as he claimed 105/4. In reply, Rohit Sharma XI were bowled out for 264 in 50.5 overs. Abhighyan Kundu top-scored with 94 runs. Taking a handsome lead of 155 runs, Sunil Gavaskar XI added another 227 runs in 47 overs to set a target of 383 runs. It was Aghav again with the bat as he muscled 133. For Rohit Sharma XI, Kavya Gori accounted for 56/4. Chasing a mammoth target, Rohit Sharma XI faltered as they were reduced to 241 in 56.1 overs, losing the match by 141 runs. Harsh Gaikar fought hard for his 93. However, Sunil Gavaskar XI’s bowlers, Mehboob Alam (59/5) and Chirag Modak (63/3) rattled the opposition.

Dilip Vengsarkar XI v Sachin Tendulkar XI

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Dilip Vengsarkar XI were bundled out for a paltry 142 in 46.3 overs. Varad Sakharkar was the lone warrior in the fight as he mustered 74. On the other hand, for Sachin Tendulkar XI, Pratapraj Pulla was the pick of the bowlers with 20/4. Pulla led the team’s bowling attack and yielded rich dividends for hitting the right straps. In reply, Sachin Tendulkar XI took a considerable lead of 69 runs as they posted 211 in 83 overs. Anirudha Nair (39) and Raza Mirza (37) made valuable contributions with the bat. For Dilip Vengsarkar XI, Sanskar Rao was the most successful bowler with 54/4. The match ended in a draw as Dilip Vengsarkar XI put together 47/1 in 14 overs in their second innings.

Dream XI Dilip Vengsarkar CA won the Sontosh Kumar Ghosh Trophy Organized by Sporting Union Club and Kalyandas Memorial Sports Foundation AJINKYA NAIK, SURAJ SAMAT, SANJAY NAIK, KALYANDAS MEMORIAL SPORTS FOUNDATION. A dominant display with ball as well as the bat, Sports Field CC never stood a chance and had to settle for the 2nd best.

Sports Field elected to bat first in the finals of the Ghosh Trophy with an ambition to score a big first inning total but were dragged back down to reality as the Vengsarkar bowlers didn’t leave a stone unturned and bowled them out for just 109 in 41 overs. Nikish Nerurkar picked up 6 while Anish Tambe claimed the remaining 4. Nerurkar and Tambe ensured Sports Field CC’s innings didn’t last long. When it was time to bat, Dilip Vengsarkar CA dominated again. Atharva Dhond hammered an emphatic 104 as Aryan Punja scored 66. With the total of 270 on board in 83 overs, Dream XI Dilip Vengsarkar CA claimed the prestigious title.

The Mumbai Real Cricket Foundation U-14 Cup produced an incredible game of cricket between Real Cricket Academy and Vanquiesh Cricket Club. With a wining streak on their back, Real CA elected to bat in this game but unfortunately were caught out by the bowlers of Vanquiesh Cricket Club as they were bowled out for just 143. Ankush Yadav’s incredible spell of 4/18 restricted the Real CA. Harsh Patil lead the scoresheets as he scored 43 in 49 balls. When the chase began, Real CA came out fighting and attacked from all sides. Vanquiesh CC didn’t have answers and were eventually bowled out for 109 giving the victory to Real CA. Contributing to a victory in a low-scoring game, Harsh also picked up a wicket and was adjudged as the man of the match.

After the red team, Sanjeevani CC’s Blue team tasted victory in the Mumbai Real Cricket Foundation Cup U-14. Batting first, Dr. Antonio D’Silva Sports Academy was asked to bat first on a challenging wicket. An incredible display of bowling by the Sanjeevani CC’s Blue, ADSA was cleaned out in 40 overs for just 147 runs. Anish Tambe had an claimed 3 wickets giving away just 38 runs in his spell of 8 overs. It was upto the batsmen now to chase the target. Shreyas Khilare and Harsh, both hammered ADSA bowling attack as they both scored half centuries. Sanjeevani CC Blue won comfortably by 9 wickets.

In a closely matched up competition between Sanjeevani CC-Red and MIG CC, the former came out on top with relative ease. After winning the toss, Sanjeevani CC Red opted to set a target but MIG’s bowlers had come prepared as they were restricted to just 193 in 40 overs. Jay Nadar top scored with 41. An easy target to chase down, it was MIG’s game to lose. With an incredible fightback with the ball, Sanjeevani CC-Red managed to bowl MIG out at 164 with 10 overs to go. Thanks to the enchanted spell of Sourish Deshpande (6-19-2), MIG had a tough time scoring runs. in the ends, Sanjeevani CC Red won by 29 runs.

In the Mumbai Real Cricket Foundation U-14 Cup, Sai Kalan gave the performance of his lifetime helping Real Cricket Academy win against Yuva Arjun Cricket Academy.  Yuva Arjun CA asked Real Cricket Academy to bat first after winning the toss. This plan backfired as Real CA hammered 284 in 35 overs. Sai Kalan scored an emphatic 94 facing just 50 deliveries. When it was time to bowl, Sai was the man to do it again for his team as he claimed 4 wickets in just a single over. With his 10 team members, Sai and Real CA bundled up Yuva Arjun CA for just 87 runs in 16 overs winning the game by 197 runs.

Titans Cricket Academy dominated JD Sports Academy in  the ongoing Mumbai Real Cricket Foundation U-14 Cup. After winning the toss, JD Sports Academy elected to bat first. In hindsight, this decision didn’t work as they were bowled out for just 124 in 38.2 overs. Om Bhabal’s incredible spell comprising of 3 wickets cornered the batters. After the first innings, it was a cake walk for the Titans as they comfortably won by 6 wickets in hand. Although JD Sports Managed to pick up 4 wickets, it wasn’t enough to stop the run chase.
