In a head-to-head competition between Mumbai Police Gymkhana and Goregaon SC, the former comfortably prevailed in the Purshottam Shield. Goregaon SC batted first and scored a decent total of 288 in 45 overs. All rounder Aryan Patni finished off the innings as he notched up an unbeaten 96. Jiniv Joshi managed to score a half century as well. A seemingly challenging target, Mumbai Police Gymkhana chased it down with relative ease. Rohit Pol high scored with 82. Apart from his contributions, the Police batting unit came alive as a whole. Valuable runs by Police Gymkhana Skipper Swapnil Kulaye, Mansing Chavan, Sunil Patil and Shrikant Limbole made sure the target was chased comfortably. With almost 30 balls to spare, Mumbai Police Gymkhana completed the chase with 5 wickets in hand.

The 2022 Purshottam Shield continues to produce exciting close games. The tournament gave another enticing game between Karnataka SC and MIG CC. Karnataka batted first and scored a decent target of 260 in 44.5 overs. Ramanpreet Ghoman and Rakesh Prabhu’s half centuries helped contribute towards the total as Gautam Waghela missed his half century by just 4 runs. MIG’s bowlers had a decent outing as well. Shivaji Yadav, Ankush Jaiswal and Atharva Ankolekar, all managed to claim 3 wickets each as they bowled out Karnataka with a ball to spare. The second innings was nothing short of riveting. MIG batsman Om Keshkamat scored an amusing 83 as he toyed with the bowlers. Apart from the ball, Atharva Ankolekar contributed with the bat as he scored 44. Despite Rakesh Prabhu’s 3-wicket haul, MIG won by the skin of their teeth with a wicket in hand and 3 balls to spare.

Siddhaant Adhatrao notched up the highest individual score in the white-ball Purshottam Shield. New Hind SC against PJ Hindu Gymkhana was a one sided affair, least to say. Batting first, New Hind SC hammered a whopping 382 in their 45 overs losing 6 wickets. Siddhant Adhatrao hammered the PJ Hindu bowler’s all over the place as he scored 193. Rugved More also contributed 66. With a few more contributions in the middle, New Hind SC ended up with 382 on the board. Just like the bat, New Hind were dominant with the ball too. It required just 21 overs for New Hind to dismiss any sort of challenge from PJ Hindu Gymkhana as they were bundled up for just 119. Akshay Jambhekar was the pick of the bowlers picking up 4 wickets.

The Parel SC claimed victory over Bhatnagar in the Purshottam Shield, white ball, 45 overs match series. The triumphant team initiated the first innings as they managed to score 234/6 in 44 overs. Usaid Cutlerywala scored 90 runs. Sumeir Zaveri scored 62 runs with Aditya adding 30 to the scoreboard. Bhatnagar’s Atharv Dakway picked up 4 wickets attempting to give his team a chance to turn things around. In the second innings, Ajit Yada scored 49 runs and Fenil Soni contributed 38. Unfortunately, their contributions weren’t enough as Bhatnagar were bowled out for 166. Vinit Dhulap picked up 4 wickets giving only 25 runs away. Parel SC claimed victory over Bhatnagar by 68 runs.

India-A batter Sarfaraz Khan participated in the ongoing Purshottam played for the Parkophene Cricketers against Khar Gymkhana. Batting first, Parkophene set an unassainable target of 422 in 45 overs losing just 3 wickets in the process. Khan carried his first-class form and scored a dominant 157. Tripura Ranji player Ninad Kadam also scored 105 as they both had a massive partnership. There were a couple of contributions from Prasad Pawar and Shreeraj Gharat to push the target. With a comfortable target to defend, Parkopehene went on the attack. Sagar Mishra scalped 4 and Himanshu Singh claimed 3 as Khar Gymkhana were effortlessly bundled up for 123 in just under 24 overs.

In the ongoing Purshottam Shield, Payyade was convincingly defeated by Sainath SC by 4 wickets. Payyade SC batted first and scored a competitive 240 in 45 overs. Lefty Omkar Ghule scored an unbeaten 105 helping with the final total. Japjeet Randhawan and Prayag Bhati managed to contribute with 30s of their own as Bharat Patil claimed 3 wickets and gave away just 41 runs. The second innings was a completely different affair as Sainath intended to finish things off early to give them a net run rate advantage. In just 35.1 overs, they managed to chase down the target with ease. Umesh Gurjar scored an emphatic 92. Jigar Rana and Yash Chavan supported him quite well in the chase. Although Sardar claimed 3 wickets, it wasn’t enough to stop Sainath SC.

Dadar Parsee Colony won by 4 wickets against Muslim United CC in the ongoing Purshottam Shield. Batting first, Muslim United scored 276 in 43.5 overs. Moin Khan scored an emphatic 78 as Ruturaj Rane supported him with a half century of his own. Bhushan Talawdekar picked up 3 wickets but was slightly expensive. Dadar Parsee Colony had a strong comeback in the second innings. After this contributions with the ball, Bhushan hammered 90 for DPC. Vedprakash Jaiswal and Maxwell Swaminathan batted around him. with 2.3 overs to go and 4 wickets in hand, Dadar Parsee Colony successfully completed the run chase.

Shivaji Park Gymkhana ruthlessly dominated Regal CC to win the game convincingly by 8 wickets. Batting first, Regal CC were bowled out for just 119. Viraj Jadhav was the only batsmen who put up some fight but all in vain. Just requiring to bowl 35.2 overs, SPG’s spinners, Vidyadhar Kamat and Jayesh Pokhare took 3 wickets each. SPG entered the field with an intention to finish things off quickly as they chased down the target in just 15.5 overs. Captain Sahil Gode smashed 60 to get SPG home easily.

In another one sided affair of Purshottam Shield, Young Comrade CC were pitted against Sind CC. Young Comrade entered the field to bat first. Batsman Vedant Patil high scored with 41 runs but unfortunately had no support from the other end . By the end of the first innings, Young Comrade were bowled out for mere 95 runs in just 29.1 overs. Aditya Dhumal played a pivotal role as he picked up 4 key wickets in the first innings. The bowlers had set up an easy stage for the Sind batters. Khan Awais Naushad scored 39 runs. Sind lost 3 wickets in the runchase but rapped up the game under 16 overs as they won by 7 wickets.

Fort Vijay CC dominated Dadar Union SC in the ongoing Purshottam Shield  by 9 wickets. Fort Vijay initiated the innings as they scored 159/10 in 38.2 overs. Batsmen Sayed Ahmed scored 43 as Harshad managed 42 runs on the scoreboard.  Amanullah Manihar picked up 4 wickets and Siddhant Singh picked up 3 wickets to bowl Fort Vijay out early. As the chase began, Onkar Jadhav scored 47 runs while Divyaansh Saxena hit a century as he scored 101 runs in just 58 balls. With another century to his name, Saxena has notched up 2 consecutive fifties in the Purshottam Shield. A total team effort contributed towards Dadar Union’s victory.
