The 3rd match in the 1st Edition of the JFSC Super Cup was between Somaiya Sports Academy and CFF Fire Flyers were the latter prevailed comfortably over the former. The Team Lead of CFF Fire Flyers Mr. Vijay Kumar, flew in specially from Goa to witness this encounter, such was the magnitude of the tournament. Mr. Kumar will soon enough join the team in the upcoming games to compete in the JFSC Cup. 

After winning a crucial toss, CFF Fire Flyers elected to bowl first which worked in their favor as they were able restrict Somaiya Sports Academy for just 126 in 20 overs. Arbaz Reza was the lone warrior, high scoring in the innings with 43 to his name. The bowling display was strained enough as no batsman other than Arbaz was able to cross 15 runs. The pick of the bowler’s being Rajesh Aswani who picked up 3 wickets in his spell of 4 overs. Kanish Patel’s 4 over-spell was handy too as he picked up 2 crucial wickets at an economy of 6 runs per over. Kanish’s opening bowling partner, Anish Pevekar picked up a wicket and was awarded the Tierra Economical Bowler Of The Match for an impressive economy of 5.25.

With a relatively small target to chase, Somaiya were off to a safe start. After losing a wicket early, Hemant (27 off 35) and Vaibhav Sethi (42 off 37) carried the innings with a 62 run partnership. After their dismissal. Nikhil Pingulkar stayed unbeaten till the final run was scored by facing 26 balls and scoring 32. Anikter Pawonji was the bowler of the game for his spell of 3/14 in 2 overs but unfortunately his efforts were in vain.

A complete team effort of the CFF Fire Flyers resulted in a comfortable victory. Vaibhav Sethi was awarded the Man Of The Match for his anchoring innings.

The Jolly Friends Sports Club’s (JFSC) edition 1 of the JFSC Cup continues to produce incredible games and performances. On the 11th of November, Navi Mumbai Ninjas took on the Accenture Cricket Club in a tight game of T-20 cricket. 

Winning the toss, Navi Mumbai Ninjas elected to set a target. For them, opener Rajesh Menon outclassed every other batsman as he hammered an emphatic 83 in just 59 with 7 boundaries and 3 sixes. Unfortunately for the team, he was the only batter who clicked leaving him alone to battle the bowlers of Accenture CC. A commendable bowling performance made sure the Navi Mumbai Ninjas were restricted to just 148. Darshan picked up 2 wickets as the bowlers around him supported with incredibly economical spells. Zaid Momin in particular bowled with an  economy of just 3.5 overs and was also awarded  “Economical Bowler of The Match” for the same.

With the bowlers doing their job, it was up to the batsman of Accenture to complete the run chase. Pratik Surve provided the team with a flying start by scoring 41 off just 32. After losing a wicket early, Pratik and Leon F carried the innings with a partnership of 91 to nail down the Navi Mumbai Ninjas. With 61 to his name, Leon’s innings helped Accenture as he hit 7 boundaries and a six in his 47-ball stint. Despite Parag Raj’s spell of 2/15, it wasn’t enough to defend the target.

Accenture Cricket Club comfortably won by 5 wickets and 8 balls to spare. Leon F was adjudged as the Man of The Match for his game-winning knock.

This is 3rd T20 Women’s Cricket Tournament Inter Club Cricket titled ‘AJIT GHOSH MEMORIAL TROPHY’ with 8 teams affiliated to Mumbai Cricket Association from different parts in Mumbai will be PARTICIPATING .Tournament is organized With a view to spot, groom and nurture talent for the CITY OF MUMBAI . Each team will get to play 3 games in the T-20 format , 120 players from various affiliated clubs to MCA as usual will be participating, at 2 venues Shivaji Park Gymkhana- Mahim Juvenile , in Mumbai, hence it will be a 5-days event.

Each game will be played as per the M.C.A. rules. The winners will be awarded “Shri Ajit Ghosh Memorial Trophy” and the runners up will be awarded “Kalyandas Memorial Sports Foundation Trophy”. Also three individual performance awards will be awarded to the ‘Best Bowler’, Best Batswoman’, and ‘Best All-rounder of the series’, “Woman of the Match Award” for every match, along with a memento. The event is being organize by SPORTING UNION CLUB event is supported and Co Sponsored by Kalyandas Memorial Sports Foundation, SMT Hansaben Mehta, Europem India Pvt. Ltd.

Mumbai Real Cricket Foundation U-14 cup keeps on producing enticing games. Electing to bowl the first innings assuming chase would be best instead JD Sports Academy were back to pavilion with 183 all out in 38.1 Overs. Aarush Thakur kept smashing the highest in match 81 runs of 81 balls for JD. Raj Waingankar got GPCC 4 wickets and direction to win the match withholding the title of man of the match. All-rounder Raj, smashed 38 runs in 31 balls contributing to a total of 202/8 wickets for GPCC.

The 9th match of the ongoing Mumbai Real Cricket Foundation Under 14 Tournament was dominated by Mulund Gymkhana who pulled off an 86 run win against Parag English School.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first Mulund Gymkhana put on a par score of 222 in 40 overs, Ayush Jadhav top scored with 64(71). In the 2nd innings the Mulund Gymkhana bowlers bowled very tidy spells keeping the flow of runs under control which created pressure and eventually had the Parag Eng School side all out for a meagre total of 136 runs. Sonu Pal was the pick of the bowlers picking up 4-19(6) and was adjudged man of the match.

Southpaw Samarth Seth will now represent the U-25 team of the Delhi team. After a strong return back to his home state from Andhra Pradesh, In 2021 Seth was kept on stand-by for the Mushtaq Ali squad but played for the U-25s. The batsman only received one opportunity and scored a half century in his first game for the team in last season. This year, Samarth is looking forward for a longer run.

The U16 Payyade Trophy, which is an MCA selection tournament is underway. Three-day matches are played as a part of this competition. Between November 6 and 8, two games were played. 

Sunil Gavaskar XI v Rohit Sharma XI

Riding on Harsh Aghav’s prolific batting performance, Sunil Gavaskar XI pipped Rohit Sharma by a massive margin of 141 runs. Batting first, Sunil Gavaskar XI piled up 419 in 86.4 overs, thanks to Aghav’s 204. On the other hand, for Rohit Sharma XI, Agastya Bangera was the top performer with the ball as he claimed 105/4. In reply, Rohit Sharma XI were bowled out for 264 in 50.5 overs. Abhighyan Kundu top-scored with 94 runs. Taking a handsome lead of 155 runs, Sunil Gavaskar XI added another 227 runs in 47 overs to set a target of 383 runs. It was Aghav again with the bat as he muscled 133. For Rohit Sharma XI, Kavya Gori accounted for 56/4. Chasing a mammoth target, Rohit Sharma XI faltered as they were reduced to 241 in 56.1 overs, losing the match by 141 runs. Harsh Gaikar fought hard for his 93. However, Sunil Gavaskar XI’s bowlers, Mehboob Alam (59/5) and Chirag Modak (63/3) rattled the opposition.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Dilip Vengsarkar XI were bundled out for a paltry 142 in 46.3 overs. Varad Sakharkar was the lone warrior in the fight as he mustered 74. On the other hand, for Sachin Tendulkar XI, Pratapraj Pulla was the pick of the bowlers with 20/4. Pulla led the team’s bowling attack and yielded rich dividends for hitting the right straps. In reply, Sachin Tendulkar XI took a considerable lead of 69 runs as they posted 211 in 83 overs. Anirudha Nair (39) and Raza Mirza (37) made valuable contributions with the bat. For Dilip Vengsarkar XI, Sanskar Rao was the most successful bowler with 54/4. The match ended in a draw as Dilip Vengsarkar XI put together 47/1 in 14 overs in their second innings.

Dream XI Dilip Vengsarkar CA won the Sontosh Kumar Ghosh Trophy Organized by Sporting Union Club and Kalyandas Memorial Sports Foundation AJINKYA NAIK, SURAJ SAMAT, SANJAY NAIK, KALYANDAS MEMORIAL SPORTS FOUNDATION. A dominant display with ball as well as the bat, Sports Field CC never stood a chance and had to settle for the 2nd best.

Sports Field elected to bat first in the finals of the Ghosh Trophy with an ambition to score a big first inning total but were dragged back down to reality as the Vengsarkar bowlers didn’t leave a stone unturned and bowled them out for just 109 in 41 overs. Nikish Nerurkar picked up 6 while Anish Tambe claimed the remaining 4. Nerurkar and Tambe ensured Sports Field CC’s innings didn’t last long. When it was time to bat, Dilip Vengsarkar CA dominated again. Atharva Dhond hammered an emphatic 104 as Aryan Punja scored 66. With the total of 270 on board in 83 overs, Dream XI Dilip Vengsarkar CA claimed the prestigious title.

The Mumbai Real Cricket Foundation U-14 Cup produced an incredible game of cricket between Real Cricket Academy and Vanquiesh Cricket Club. With a wining streak on their back, Real CA elected to bat in this game but unfortunately were caught out by the bowlers of Vanquiesh Cricket Club as they were bowled out for just 143. Ankush Yadav’s incredible spell of 4/18 restricted the Real CA. Harsh Patil lead the scoresheets as he scored 43 in 49 balls. When the chase began, Real CA came out fighting and attacked from all sides. Vanquiesh CC didn’t have answers and were eventually bowled out for 109 giving the victory to Real CA. Contributing to a victory in a low-scoring game, Harsh also picked up a wicket and was adjudged as the man of the match.
